Turns out I had promoted the week long 2025 adventure so well that this year was an easy sell to this fun bunch of friends with links to Chamonix. Other than Ted and I the crew were all new to skiing so far north, but all very keen to enjoy what the Arctic would throw at them. Just like the prior year, could this trip provide sun, fresh snow, and hopefully no avalanches!
We had booked an airbnb for 10 people just north of the Svensby ferry terminal – sitting right on the fjord and in close proximity to more than enough ski touring, a sauna, and unbeknown to us, a great place to enjoy evening bbq’s on the beach.
Coming in from various European countries, and all arriving into Tromso, it made sense to spend the night there; enjoy the fjord side sauna and spend the evening catching up over reindeer burger. The following day would hopefully be a glorious day one.
