One hundred miles across the high-altitude, extreme terrain of the Colorado Rockies. Created for only the most determined athletes. Starting at 10,152 feet and climbing to 12,424 feet, you’ll be challenged to catch your breath — while the views try to take it away. The goal for the weekend was to qualify for the Leadville 100 and MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Wayne had a fabulous ride completing the very hard course in 5:34:20. It was much more difficult than he expected. When we left Florida, he thought each lap (15.5 miles) of the 4 lap course would take about one hour. After riding one lap the day before he quickly changed his mind on his expected time! The winners of the race were only averaging about 1:10 per lap. I’m so proud of Wayne for sticking too it! He didn’t look so great when I saw him after the 3rd lap, but he managed to pull it together in an awesome time.
Now – we’re off to Leadville in August for the ride of his life!!!!
